Imagine your body is a phone. You start the game with 100% Battery.

Every time you sprint, tackle, or jump, you use up battery life. That’s normal physical effort.

The Circle of Control

To save your energy for the game, you need to filter your focus. We call this the Circle of Control.

Draw an imaginary circle around your feet.

  • Inside the Circle: Things you can change.

  • Outside the Circle: Things you cannot change.

The Rule: If it is outside the circle, you are not allowed to spend energy on it.

INSIDE THE CIRCLE (Focus Here) OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE (Ignore)
My Effort: How hard I run. The Referee: Bad calls or missed fouls.
My Attitude: My body language. The Weather: Rain, wind, cold.
My Preparation: Did I eat right? The Opponent: Are they big? Are they talking trash?
My Next Play: What I do now. The Past: The mistake I made 2 minutes ago.

The "WIN" Acronym

When you feel yourself getting distracted by the crowd, the ref, or the other team, ask yourself one question:

W.I.N. - What’s Important Now?
  • Is yelling at the ref important now? No.

  • Is getting back on defense important now? Yes.

The Challenge:
